Through a shared love for wool, our collaboration with the world-renowned Abraham Moon mill in Yorkshire beautifully blends British design with true British craftsmanship. Find out how we work together to create timeless pieces showcasing their expertly crafted heritage checks and tweeds.
It all starts with a journey. Taking our designers from London to Guiseley in West Yorkshire, where Abraham Moon has been located since 1837. Together, we share inspiration and browse the archives, before selecting the final colours and patterns that will be exclusive to Hobbs.
Making the fabric is a meticulous step-by-step process that begins with dyeing the wool. One yarn alone can require up to seven coloured wools blended together to give it a rich hue. It's then washed, spun into yarn, warped and then woven into fabric on automatic looms.
In our London studio, the designers consider how to showcase each pattern. A tartan maybe cut on the bias to lend a playfulness. A heritage check may be given contrast panelling for a hint of modernity. Each design is then brought to life by our expert pattern cutters and machinists in our very own atelier. Timeless jackets, dresses and skirts that you'll want to wear, season after season.
