Abraham Moon Woollen Mill | Hobbs Fabric Collection | Hobbs

Woven In Yorkshire

We've worked with Abraham Moon, a world-renowned Yorkshire woollen mill, for over a decade. The name is synonymous with luxury. From the mill's beginnings in the early 19th century to supplying some of the world's top fashion houses in the 21st, it stands as an example of true British craftsmanship.

The mill was founded in 1837 by Abraham Moon in Guiseley, West Yorkshire - the same year, incidentally, that Queen Victoria ascended the throne.

During World War I manufacturing at the mill changed from fashion textiles to supplying the British Army with material for uniforms, including shirting and greatcoat cloth.

In 1996, the Abraham Moon mill won the Queen's Award for Export Achievement, which was presented by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Once just a small part of a vibrant wool industry in Britain, Abraham Moon is now one of the last remaining vertical woollen mills in the country. Its name is distinguished throughout the fashion world. Hobbs has worked with their team to create the finest heritage checks, tartans and tweeds for over ten years now. And we hope to work alongside them for many a season more.
