Hobbs | Alyson Walsh | Styling | Hobbs

Newly appointed style advisor to Hobbs, this season Alyson Walsh will be on hand with various outfitting tips – courtesy of her extensive clothing knowledge. Here, we introduce the woman behind the talented eye and expert point of view.

Alyson Walsh is an ex-fashion editor for Good Housekeeping magazine and current writer for The Guardian, FT, You magazine and The Times (to name a few), not to mention founder of acclaimed blog ‘that’s not my age’. Regarding the art of dressing, she lives by the mantra: “It’s not about age, it’s about style.”

What do you love about Hobbs?

Both the clothes and accessories are always of the highest quality and designed to last. On top of that, the pieces are so versatile – I like the ‘go anywhere and everywhere’ appeal of Hobbs clothes.

Favourite item in the Hobbs collection?

I love a standout coat to really liven up an outfit. The Sunny coat is the perfect choice – the smart tailoring speak for itself, and the colour really pops. Whenever I wear it, I instantly feel confident.

Which pieces do you recommend for Spring/Summer ‘16?

Some days, you just can’t beat a pair of jeans: perfect for what I like to call ‘casual glamour’. I love to pair them with smart, tailored jackets and pointed flats – and in summer a Breton stripe always looks fresh. I’ll accessorise with a pendant too – the more casual the outfit, the bigger the jewellery!
