Authentic Harris tweed bears the insignia of an orb and cross on the label, indicating that it has been handwoven from 100% pure virgin wool on the Outer Hebrides using methods passed down for centuries. This historic fabric has been brought to the here and now in modern silhouettes: a dashing cropped riding jacket and matching pencil skirt; neat stovepipes; and a box-pleat midi-dress, all woven in a rich heritage check.
"Harris Tweed is surrounded in heritage. To work with such a prestigious and established fully-functioning British mill is every designers dream."NICOLA PAGE, SENIOR DESIGNER
Established in 1837, Abraham Moon in Yorkshire is one of the last woollen mills in the country to manufacture luxury fabrics from start to finish. Its motto is “Creating The Cloth”, something which it has been doing for Hobbs for many years. In these pieces, artfully fringed, grey-flecked tweed transforms a sleek shift dress, pencil skirt and chic cape.
"Abraham Moon has been part of the Hobbs DNA since I can remember, they go above and beyond to help create unique cloths and weaves for us season on season."SANDY VERDON, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Liberty has been hand-printing its whimsical blooms since the 1920s. Precious yet powerful, these 21st-century interpretations flourish across cotton shirts and a cotton-twill jodhpur. The standout is a smart longcoat woven from Harris tweed and printed with an archive Liberty floral.
"It was such an exciting opportunity to be able to work with Liberty and their archive, to be able to team their heritage with ours."JASON MCGHIE,
Founded in 1910, Joseph H. Clissold’s fine wool fabrics, spun from superior Merino wool in its traditional mill in Yorkshire, enjoy international renown. Taking navy pinstripe cloth from the mill, Hobbs has turned it into a striking suit complete with directional kick flares, a key trouser shape of the season. Liberty-print lining lends a luxurious finish.
"Clissold's heritage and rich archive of beautiful fine wool suiting made them the perfect mill to work with to create our modern yet timeless tailoring."NICOLA PAGE, SENIOR DESIGNER
